Unfortunately the city of Denver has unconstitutionally shut down Mahooka due to zoning. Although we were approved on 10/26/09. The city ordinance which went into affect March 1st 2010 has the ability to back date itself to before we were approved. How is that? I do not know.
Thank you to all of our patients please feel free to contact us if you have any specific caregiver needs we may help you with.
This Weekend in Aspen, CO Mahooka entered the first ever Aspen Cannabis Crown. We entered 4 strains (Grape Ape, Maui Waui, Jack Flash and Blackberry Kush). After all was said and done the judges took the Grape Ape 2nd. Although it wasn’t first we feel we have the team, talent and love to win it next year. Side note is if you put love in your Cannabis it will passed on when a patient medicates on it. What could be better, love and Cannabis the two most healing substances in the world.
First of all I would like to thank Damien and Brian from Alternative Medical Solutions of Aspen www.altmedicalsolutions.com, for hosting this event. It was the first of it’s kind and it was definitely a daunting task. With all of the hurdles these guys put on a great venue. Especially when you consider the amount of good vibe and Karma that was radiating from the people. The event was so much fun and we met some really good souls.
I would also like to thank some of our Mahooka Family members for adding the love needed to grow, harvest and dispense some of the best meds in Colorado. I would like to give special thanks to Serious Sensi and United Caregivers LLC. They are the truly top notch growers and are a staple of our family. Thanks guys we had a blast.
We also would like to extend our thanks to GooGanj and their team of growers and caregivers that help to make sure the medication is in the hands of the true reason for our cause, “The Patients”. Thanks Derrick, Chris and Dion. By the way if you tried Sweet Patsy’s edibles and or want quality edibles you can get them here at Mahooka.
Also much love goes to Andrea, Jeremiah and Monique, who really hold things down and added so much support to make Mahooka successful.
I have been asking myself that question as i muddle through the changes that have been happening in the Medical Marijuana Community. Me being a caregiver is seeing alot of changes in both how caregivers and patients interact. I see people using the term caregiver in vain. I see patients shopping for all the free items they can and at a drop of a hat swap their caregiver for freebies.
I personally still prefer the relationship aspect of the designation caregiver. I really like to have some sort of repour with my patients. I hope that I display honesty, compassion and mutually pleasing experience when I interact with my patients. I prefer a Pablo’s coffee on 6th over starbucks.
The papers said there were more dispensaries than starbucks, ha. Why didnt they count the independent coffee shops in the count. I am sure there are more coffee shops than dispensaries in Denver. Why are we(MMJ Community)compared to starbucks a single corporation with 1000’s of stores across the country.
The city is upset about the number of dispensaries. I am not happy about that either but I truly believe the patients will decide what kind of care is good for them. Why can’t state and city let the patients weed(no pun intended) out the right type of care for them. Why don’t we zone out coffee shops? There are far to many in the area, isn’t there?
Oh back to the question what is a caregiver? tough one. Here is Mahooka’s mission statement:
“To provide our patients the most value for their caregivership”
and the definition of “value” is totally determined by the patient and I together. The state or the government can not define that for us!
Patients please comment and let me know what you think?
Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Ty Hull. After more than ten years of working independently as a software consultant, business partners and I decided months ago to open a dispensary. We are a tax generating business. We meticulously attempted followed every letter of the law regarding the rules of opening and operating a medical marijuana dispensary.
I would like to thank you for taking the time to hear my concerns regarding the impending changes to the medicinal marijuana legislature which is looming. I am a member of the CMMR(Coloradans for Medical Marijuana Regulation) who are my industry voice. Please feel free to reach any of them at CMMR as they are dedicated to helping Colorado form a responsible bill. I also want extend any personal assistance if you may need to create a sensible bill.
My patients and I are concerned that we as caregivers will no longer be able to grant continued access to safe and affordable medicine. You, Mr. Massey, an elected official of Colorado, is responsible to write legislation to protect caregivers, patients and the millions of residents in the great state of Colorado. I beg you, do not compromise our patients rights. To deny patients access will stifle the delivery of quality medicine to all patients and cause some to live with pain. Limiting the number of patients a caregiver can service will leave some patients going to caregivers that may not have the compassion, professionalism and integrity that is essential for giving quality care. That action alone will be the catalyst for black market activity to re surge which will create a dangerous situation for patients seeking SAFE and AFFORDABLE care. Manufacturing more red tape and undefined laws can also force patients to use the black market and jeopardize their safety and create more work for our already overburdened legal system.
Please allow safe access to medical marijuana, a medicine that was voted legal by the people of Colorado. Not doing so would send a clear message to the people of Colorado that the officials of Colorado won’t uphold our constitutional rights.
